All you need is notepad for your web pages and Paintshop Pro or similar for your images.

It's just quicker to get all the text and images in the right place. You can't get it to everything so you have to use the text editor still...

my company (which has done about 30 sites) uses Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Flash, certain php editors, and asp editors. Everything works together well. But i often use text editors and image creators

I use Dreamweaver day in day out, but I know that if you're starting off making sites, Dreamweaver can easily overcomplicate things and be more of a hindrance than a help.

Using notepad encourages you to actually understand what the code is doing to the text and images and how you can affect the page by changing the markup.
Once you've got over this hurdle, then you should move onto WYSIWYG packages like Frontpage, Dreamweaver, et al.
