My X14XE has recently starting running really lumpy in the first couple of minutes when its run cold.
Once it warms up a bit it goes away and seems to run fine. The engine is only about 15,000 miles old and has had regular servicing.
The only engine mod i have done is a PVD panel filter, which has ben fitted for about 18 months. Im wondering if its now dirty could this be causing the trouble and if so how do i clean it?
Are there any better panels than the pvd ones?

would it be tho, as i say i had a cam belt snap on my old engine and it was replaced with a full BRAND NEW engine at that time, which is only 15000 miles old.
I suppose they might not of changed the leads with that, but would they cause it to only be funny when its cold?

when my old corsa's engine was cold & it was lumpy, I'd just increase the revs to about 3.5-4k for a few seconds & it would still be lumpy, but then go smooth & be ok.
no really advised, but my engine was complete hite anyways! I think it was just a bit of damp in the cylinders & on the plugs...

At least you got a spanking new engine. If you went for a 2litre it would have a shit load of miles on it.
Was your other engine totally knackered and unrepairable?

yeah other was doomed, all pistons and valves damnaged, head possibly cracked.
It only snapped at like 2,500 RPM in 4th gear at 30, but it wrecked it. I couldnt get a bigger engine as my inurance wouldnt cover me on it.
