hi i bought performance GTi magazine this month and it had an interesting test. they bought a standard 205 GTi [108.5bhp @ 6879rpm / 94.5lb/ft @ 5420rpm] and added a viper induction kit to it... after the kit was added it was running [108.1bhp @ 6596rpm / 93.2lb/ft @ 5443rpm] meaning a deduction in power.

they then added a magnex exhaust and manifold which addded it up to 111.1bhp. but thats £700 gone on just increasing the sound! tbh i thought youd get a bare minimum 5bhp with induction/exhaust/manifold. just thought id share that with you lol.

if you want power, look else where for your money!

cheers for that

been told that induction kits tend to lose power rather than gain it.... cos that they suck up all the heat from the engine bay if they r not enclosed properly

yeah they can increase power im sure, it seems like it in my car, not a lot, but its there... (i have a BFO cone) but i guess you need a shield from the engine heat plus cold air feeds etc for a good result. however the viper was meant to be one of the best because its made of carbon fibre? maybe it doesnt make a difference, my mate has one on his zetec s and says it aint that good!

lol

I got one on my GSI, some one on here did a test using a drilled air box with panel filter, a K&N cone filter and a viper all done on the same day on the same car on same RR
the panel filter gained about 4BHP
the K&N i think lost power (dont quote me)
And the viper gained about 6BHP

25 quid for 4bhp, or 250 for 6bhp
I know which I'd choose!

i have one. furry muff i have a1.2 but i thought i'd go on an airfilter spree.

i have tested:
standard (obviously),
standard and drilled,
k&n and drilled,
K&n cone,
and now am on viper.

imo... viper is the best out of the lot which i have tried. but it is a complete waste of money and still not worth it at all.
may my money wasting spree be a lesson to you all
