its not good to use 6x9's in the shelf because the sub will drown them out and maybe even damage them

not my personal recommendation but from most people on here on ebay or in the bin :s

I had thought about putting 6x9s in the rear quarters with a low frequency blocker thingy

Everyone says no 6x9's in the shelf blah blah.
Mine r in the stealth shelf and have been for ages. Now i have a bigger sub and the comps/6x9's are all amped and i have tried fading the 6x9's out to see what it would be like.

It sounds LOADS BETTER with the 6x9's faded IN. I'm gonna move em to the rear quarters, but in 2 years they are not damaged and i have never had any sound distortion from them.

If you want quality get rid of the 6x9s, but if you want loudness keep the in.

Only real way of getting 6x9s to sound great is to have them in sealed boxes and crossover fitted to them Eitherway, if you have them full stop you should have some sort of crossover on them to cut out the lower freqs that the sub handles. Otherwise, it will all just mash together and it causes the "mud" effect....which sounds shite

If you want to keep the 6x9s, then place them in the rear 1/2 door cards with a crossover (use the amps built in one, or get a seperate box jobby) and some sound proofing behind and they will sound better than having them in a parcel shelf

As for the amps, i would personally get a monoblock for the subs (and wire them together to get a 2ohm load etc) and get a 4 channel for the 6x9s and front comps.

you can fade the sound to either the front or rear speakers. For best sound quality sound should be faded to front speakers basically hes sayin that he has the sound coming from his 6x9s and his front speakers. not best setup IMO but prob lil bit louder. Its a matter of personal opinion really

doesnt really sound louder, just sounds to me better.
I cant say i have ever noticed a 'mash' sound during bass notes etc... and dont have the 6x9's running on a crossover, i have the amp set flat for all 4 channels.

I do plan to move them tho, but the bass is also much more puncy with them working.
