Originally posted by DaveyLC You lot are probably getting very bored of my nest story but.. ..tough :D As per my previous reply we had our loft insulated on the weekend and being as Monday was a particularly cold day I was curious to see what the energy usage would be like. The Nest system now takes into account the out-side temperature so it can adjust accordingly and also notify you via your energy history if the cold weather caused a spike in consumption. Last Friday the heating was on for 3 and a quarter hours and Nest says the above average usage was because it was a 'cold day'.. We did have a frost in the morning but it warmed up during the day to about 8 degrees and during the day when the heating ramped down it felt cold in the house. Monday (yesterday) was a really cold day, it reached minus figures at night and during the day the frost hung around until nearly lunch time. But now the loft is done the temperature in the house was very comfortable all day and the heating was running for 30 minutes LESS than the previous 'high usage day' which in-fact was no where near as cold out side.
