Just go down to a gig a set up, maybe ask the band if they wouldn't mind you doing some shots, send them the pics you get for free.

You'll need a DSLR for good results as you'll want to be able to set shutter speeds (to capture the action).

Something like the Canon 400D or Nikon D40x/D60 might be a good starting point :thumbs:

i can skate a little and i have a few friends that can skate pretty well and stoke plaza isnt too far from here, not to mention urbis in manchester usually has a few skaters about

but what kind of camera do i need really? a dslr?

id like to do band photos aswell too.. would i be able to use the same camera?

ideally you want to have an iterest in the sport or have friends that are, then get yer arse down the local skatepak and make some friends ;)
