My PS3 plays DVD's that have been burnt in data form :| and every other dvd/cd other than HD i think.

PS3 can only play Blu-Ray and normal DVD and DVD-R, RW, ROM.

But it also upscales DVD into HD resolutions. Which makes a fair difference, but not as dramatic as an actual Blu-Ray.

The Xbox HD DVD player can only play HD DVD and does not upscale normal DVD, as far as I know. (Does it even play normal DVD or do you have to use the 360 DVD drive?)
