You need a landline to get broadband (except with virgin cable).

Sky will give you cheaper activation but you'll still have to take out line rental.

I used them when we got our line activated, it's a tiny bit cheaper line rental per months, and near enough £100 cheaper for the activation. Sky BB is pretty good too.

There's a thread on the first page of geek day about Sky phone and BB

Just needing line active to get Broadband access. Never use landline.

Best bet to go through Sky then?

Sky will do it for £30, have to go with them for phone though obviously

If the line has been ceased, which it sounds like, you need the activation.

Recently moved in to a new property and the phone is dead to the world.

BT are feeding me this story that an engineer will need to come out and install a brand new line for £124.99

I know for a fact the landlord had phone and internet up til December 09 when he moved out.

Whats this crock BT are trying to feed me?
