Originally posted by Paul_J yes but there's degenerating into crap like 1 odd person made a off topic comment and there's degenerating into crap like the post was about jam and now there's been 20 reply's which simply say 'I F*CK JAM!' and no one else is posting. The thing is, if there's a selection of people that are actually reading and replying to a post - why should 1 twat ruin it for all by posting something off topic and thus making the whole post look a bit stupid and thus it getting moved. Regardless of the fact that person has replied to it - the people who were originally reading it, will simply ignore the crap they don't want to read and read / reply to the stuff they were interested in! by moving / deleting it - your stopping anyone reading / replying to it. Perhaps, you should 'DELETE' the bad comments, rather than delete the whole thread. At the end of the day though - I think you should re-arange the forum a bit. Have a forum called 'General Car Talk' Have a forum called 'OFF TOPIC' and have one called 'OFF DAY or Junk or whatever' Then you can give stricter rules on what happens. i.e. if a post is not relevant to cars at all in General Car Talk - it gets moved to off topic. Anything basically goes in off topic - unless its spam, offensive or ultimately pointless - posts about your jam factory, rugby, daniel bedding field, redline game pics, promotions, random film/tv quotes, channel 4 back yard wresting - ETC... will be fine here! If however someone decides to write completely arse - like 'Poah has you' or 'Wee Wee' then move it to Off Day / junk whatever its called. And finally in Off day / junk whatever you have any crap goes unless it conflicts with ROC - i.e. porn. Basically - if you created off topic forum - you could then be more laid back about it and then we can be happy to read what we wish to read and ignore what we wish to ignore. I personally don't mind finding out what people on CS have been up to in their lives as I know quite a few of them in Real Life and thus its interesting to know whether they got a promotion, got attack or just got dumped, but most mods move / delete these posts.
