not really worth changing the cambelt if your not going to renew the tensioner and rollers. the rollers in particular have a habit of breaking up on these engines.

Very vital. If it breaks then you can say goodbye to your engine, depending on what engine you have.

how vital is this? only reason i ask is my cars in the garage and i just rang to see if it was ready and it was apparently in 2 peices.

its now getting new tensioner, cambelt, water pump, plugs and possibly leads.
