depends on the condition of the engine and who does the conversion. most xe conversions are constantly going wrong, i fix on average 2-3 a week round my way (somehow every garage in the north east has my mobile number and ring me when a car comes in for a conversion:lol: )

but if it aint brok, why bother?

if i could get one like that it would be all good.

how reliable are xe's going into corsas, i dont want a car that i'll be under the bonnet every weekend.

550-650 if you pay to get it done

New bearings (crank/big ends etc)
Piston rings
Gasket set
And anything needed on the head.... rude not to do stem seals

ajscorsa

ajscorsa

posted on 16th Mar 06 at 22:48

how much of a lower ourtput?

am i better to just get a full 1600 ?? its just ive got a spare 1400 head and few 1400 bits and bobs

AK

posted on 16th Mar 06 at 22:46

why swap just the block?

The head is more likely to be fucked.... You will be able to tell if a block is fecked!!!

Just fit a 1600 complete.... 20x less hassle! Can buy them for 150

The 1400 head is different than a 1600 head.

The inlet and exhaust ports are smaller. If you put the 1400 head on the 1600, you'll end up with an X16XEL. L being lower output.

The lower output being due to the port sizes.

I'm sure this is correct, but i'm sure someone can confirm.

got a 1400 and somethings buggered up on it. changed loads and its still shit lol so whats involved in fitting a 1600 bottom end with the 1400 head??

also how much am i likely to pay for a 1600 bottom end and having it re built ??
