Originally posted by VegasPhil Matty. How do you get the original shit from under the bonnet? I don't wanna fuck up my chamois etc.
assuming you're talking about cleaning the engine bay as a whole, it was a whore lol :look: wrap all crucial electrical components in a polythene bag, to keep them water tight (dizzy cap, battery, coil etc). i used ample amounts of brush on 'gunk' de-greaser, brushed in heavily with a stiff brush and left to soak for a few mins.. rinse off with a hose-pipe, giving it some pressure. ..aand then turn it over for 10 secs trying to start it, cos i was a muppet lol  (leave the engine running if possible, then you'll know if you're hurting it). the plastic rocker cover was coated in some horrid lacquer finish- that had turned yellow over time. i just used some white spirit and cillit bang, and worked it with a toothbrush. take care not to go too far and scrub off the silver lettering details. ..silicon spray works wonders for bringing up the back plastic (rocker cover, airbox, tophat, battery etc).:thumbs:
