Originally posted by SteveW my mum has a Focus in metalic black.. even when i use every cleaning product i have on it, it still dont shine as much as some of the cars off here.. Painz, dna23 and i ahve seen some others.. any tips ? all i use is meguires... start off hosing it down then using the softwash gel shampoo then hosing it off then get the leather out then goldclass or techwax it (in the shade) then remove... dont think im doing anything wrong
Get some 3M hand glaze and use that after leathering instead of polishing. Do a small area at a time and get it all off before you move on. Make sure the car is completely dry as any moisture will make it smeary and make your already hard job even harder. It will take some elbow grease, but is well worth it. It's particularly effective on lightly hazy bonnets and is good for filling in swirl marks:thumbs: It doesn't last for ever though, and you will need to reapply after each wash and leather. As far as polish is concerned, i've always used Autoglym silicon resin and found it to be unbeatable. A lot of people rave about Mer, but I think it's filth, and refuse to use it as it doesn't seem to improve the finish one iota. [Edited on 04-07-2005 by SVM 286]
