Originally posted by Nismo isnt there a delay in teh signal to and from the satalite?
There is but the individual data sentences are time stamped and you use the time on that not the time on your local device. Basically if it says 12:00:00 - 54.00, 03.00 in one sentence and 12:00:03 - 54.01, 03.01 in the next you have the time and the ability to triangulate a distance. Makes no odds at all how long it takes the signal to reach you, apart from of course that if you slam on and the car is stopped it might still say you were doing 30mph 5 seconds ago, which was true. Its not great for 0-60 runs and the like but speed testing either by maintaining a constant speed or scanning an entire log to find a peak are accurate. [Edited on 09-03-2005 by Ian]
