They do use different management and both have mahle low comp pistons as standard although the later engines are silghty more adhearing specification

yes u can convert dizzy to dis ive done it but ive got different management so i think u might need a different ecu and loom possibl

Oh and you'd need the Dizzy blanking plate, and a ball bearing to seal off the oil gallery to the cam as the Dizzy ones are blocked already.

The very early XE's are the best (i.e with mahl pistons),l mechanically that is, but the later DIS is probably the better ecu set up, as the injectors have a better spray pattern and you have lambda control.

Yes you can put a loom from a Dis on on a early one, with the coil TPS, AFM bits swapped over aswell. But the difference would be small for the time put in, unless you are thinking of runngin nitrous, then the DIS type are meant to cope better with the Gas.
