Halfords has the booklet thing, you look up the car and it tells you what Pug recommend you put in it, and what grade.

I just read a bit of the Haynes Manual and it says you should use the same anti freeze when topping up. I only put half a cup full in anyway so should be OK.

I'll get my arse down to Halfords tomorrow and get some oil and anti freeze

I haven't got a hand book, only the service book which says nothing about oil.

why don;t you look in the hand book for what oil it takes. probably 10w40 semisynth. as for topping up your rad do it with 50/50 water/coolent.

What are you meant to put in

Just topped it up with tap water, oh shit

Drew

but with water? tap water?

u know how much chloride is in that, it will burn a hole thru ur radiator, then ya in trouble

Andrew

Raditor coolant -- it needed topping up a bit

Will drain it and do a proper job

Drew

Andrew

posted on 11th Jun 04 at 20:48

It's a bit like that now  Sometimes dies  I think the coolant and engine oil need changing. I fucked the coolant up by putting in to much water

idle will be all up and down, wont run right until the filter has bedded in

Andrew

posted on 11th Jun 04 at 20:45

Yeah i'm gonna do the filter too. What do you mean it will run lumpy?

Drew

posted on 11th Jun 04 at 20:43

i wouldnt change the filter mind, cause ur engine will run 'lumpy' for a few hundred miles after ya do

Andrew

posted on 11th Jun 04 at 20:42

Thanks Drew. I'll get dirty next Wednesday

Drew

yeah - fully is thinner

turbo engines need the thicker stuff so the oil sits in the turbo after ya switch off

Andrew

posted on 11th Jun 04 at 20:39

Is the semi stuff thicker then?

Drew

posted on 11th Jun 04 at 20:38

i belive the 1.1 uses full syn

cossies etc use the semi stuff, but the low engine cars use the fully syn stuff

Andrew

That's Drew but what type do they use? I've seen something called semi symatic and full symatic but dunno what to go for.

Drew

ur car is a 1.1 106 aint it?

think they use that mobil 1 most the time as thats for everyday cars :)
