Cheers for your help Gambit, I'll see if I can find anywhere with a laser aligning machine....

Why do we bother modifying eh? :)

they are brand specific so u need to ring a dealer that sells your alloys

where do you get hold of spigot rings dont think i have any either, might explain the constant shake in the steering

nah they just have a system that has std setup's

i'd ring round tyre places and ask them can they do it

trying ringing car bodyshops as they have laser jigs which can align them, though they usually charge a bit extra!

yeah that's what Protyre said, the computer just can't work it out!
I'm running -40mm suspension with these wheels, and I would have thought it would have the config for that.
They are an alloy wheel dealer ffs

well a mate of mine lost a wheel one day because the wheel studs sheered

why?? no spigot rings and the wheels stud where unable to bear the load on them

it'll also cut out vibration etc in the steering wheel

u may not need spiggot rings if the hole in the centre of the rim matches hubs on ur car, but because alot of wheels are universal fit they need em

i've never heard of this happening before but im assuming if you are going for a proper electronic aligment (the one where u get coloured print outs etc) then the system know's the suspension setup (offset, camber, toe) for that car

if you aint running the correct wheels then the system cant work out the adjustments etc

spiggot rings go on the hub and are the load bearing element needed for the wheel ie. the cars weight is on the spiggot ring and NOT on the wheel nuts. they fit into the hole in the centre of the rim.

spiggot rings are the black plastic rings that go inside the wheels to make the alloys fit on the hub....

Cheers Gambit, I've got the right Spiggot rings on the way now....local shoppee buggered up the order :)

Balancing I agree wiv...

Alignment tho....surely not everyone that has et38 wheels on their cars has this problem? There must be somewhere that can do it surely!?

If not....when you have ure planks and that and you need to adjust it...how do you do it?

Fanks a lot for the help tho!

what r spiggot rings and where do they go?

Gambit

firstly buy the proper spiggot rings

secondly, get them balanced, anywhere can do this, doesnt matter about offset or anything when wheel balancing

thirdly, if people cant align it then i suggest u do it the way they done it back then.....
u'll need a mate to help u...

get 2x4 foot long planks and rest them against the outside of the wheels like so, Io oI, then get a tape measure and measure the distance between the planks at the wheel, and then the distance between the planks at the far end

any difference in the measurments tells you that they need adjusted, so adjust them a little, its trial & error till you get no differnence in the measurments

Ello all!

Right, I've got Team Dynamic Vulcan's on me corsa (6.5x15 et38)

I've taken the car to quick fit and protyre in Exeter and neither can do the alignment or balancing for me.

Protyre said the wheels stick out too far so they can't get a proper reading on the alignment and the Spiggot rings are the wrong ones so the wheel bolts are the only thing holding the wheels on!

I bought these from a local shoppee and they came with everything I needed to fit to a corsa.

My question is....is there anything I can do to get them aligned and balanced. Is there anywhere in the Exeter area that could do this!?

Cheers

Chris
