Its what SBD reccomend. But it is damn fat for an N/A 1.6 engine.

isnt 2 1/2 inch too big for a N/A engine?

It doesn't need it, but they want to sell it to you, and it will gain a few bhp.

Im using a Janspeed manifold with a custom 2" system. I make fairly good power. I was told by my engine tuner that all big exhausts do is make more noise.

the 164 kit needs their sbd exhaust manifold and exhaust to match it (2.5")

the kit is about 2k, and the manifold is just over 300

The kit is called the 164 kit, it claims 164bhp, but thats rarely achieved. I think SBD got it once on an engine dyno with no electrical load etc.

I got it all from various places, new and secondhand. Fitted it all myself, had it mapped pro. SBD sell a kit for about £1500 I think...

how much for the throttle bodies matey where you get them from, did ya fit them your self

miles

I did a 14.804, but think i can get it down to 14.5 with a bit of practice. Throttle bodies and a new management system are needed for decent power.

Torque's not whats needed off the mark. Torque's what prevents traction. I have 130lb/ft so its not too shy on the torque front....

Torque is whats needed to pull up hills without dropping it a gear.

Throttle bodies, head, cams, chip etc..

A C16 XE with big horse power has low touqe figures and thats what you need for a quick off the mark car aint it, just out of interest what mods you had done to your 1.6 16v engines to acheve that power i am thinking i should have gone for throttle bodies

What was your 1/4 time out of interest?

My 1.6 16v in the Corsa was 15.118 @ 93mph with 170bhp.

I've got a 164bhp 1.6 16v nova.

At Santa Pod I raced a 160bhp 2.0 16v nova. He beat me by 0.004 seconds. However, that was due to my poor launch, he pulled right ahead of me, then after about an 8th of a mile I realed him right in. My terminal speed was 98.2, his was 93, so had the track been a few yards longer I would have beaten him.

For the cost though a 2.0 might be the easiest, depends how much handling you want to keep....

Dont get a recon engine, just fix yours.

ive got a tuned 1.6 in my gsi running bout 140bhp and ive got a standard 2 litre in my other corsa. the 2 litre has alot more torque ut to be honest there doesnt feel much difference in it. if i tuned my 1.6 to more it would be very close.

I got a GSI and I am having such a hard time deciding what to do, my engine is blowing a bit of blue smoke now (C16 XE) and is tuned to 130+bhp, do i get a recon engine as i fitted a Mantzel power box a couple of months back and carry on tuning or drop in a
C20 XE, the C20 XE has 150BHP as standard which aint far off what i got now and is heavier will i notice allot of difference cos it has more touqe, what do you think?????
I was considering a C20 LET but traction is a major problem and i dont think my funds will streach that far.:boggle:
