If you could hit the limiter in top gear, you'd probably be doing 140Mph!!!
Chances are you'll get to about 5,000Rpm in top gear and that will be about 110/120Mph
The limiter can be taken off easily with a remap but I wouldn't advise you take it out totaly.

My punto will show 140Mph at about 5,500 Rpm, if I could hit the limiter in 5th I'd be doing 167Mph!
I don't believe (unless your car is heavily tunned) that you can go out and bounce off the limiter in 5th.

The whole point of having the max. power peak of an engine below the rev limit is, so that, in theory, the car can sit at max. speed all day without any problems.
As I doubt an engine can sit flat out bouncing off the limiter very long...

bare the early non ecotec gsi they all feel the same there is hardly anything in it ive driven all three why dont u just fit a full exhaust with manifold and air filter and basically ur got a gsi probably better coz if u buy a sport its newer coz gsi's stopped mid nineties anyway

Sport 1.4 16v does 112mph. Gearbox and standard limiter wont allow it to go over 117mph (Limiter is 6620rpm). So if ur reading 120mph and ur needle is at 6000rpm, then your actually doing about 100mph.

book figures are as follows:

1.4 8V SRI 82BHP
1.4 16V SRI or PORT (ecotec engine) 90BHP 0-60= 10.5
1.6 16V GSI = 105BHP i think and around 9.3 but not too sure on GSI figures
hope this helps
