I've got the single alternator instead of the multi rib setup which is the best for the conversion so I'm told. I had a look today and I think the problem might be to much play in my engine mounts.

Looked at my chassis leg tonight and there is signs of the alternator hitting the leg. How do I go about fixing it? Solid mounts? Baeating the chassis leg?

Paint scraped off the leg mate

I'll have a look at the things metioned, cheers lads  Wouldn't be ARB bushes as I ahve the ARB removed.

I'm thin thinking what Generation said is maybe whats happening, when I'm locking left on to turn up hill it makes the nosie, so the engine would be leaning over to the chassis leg. Whats the best way of seeing if thats it? Would there be tell tale signs on the leg?

sounds daft, but is it your suspention top mount that has play in it? so everytime you boot it, it will move about, mine are fucked in my polo, started as a grinding noise under hard brakeing and acceleration, now it just bangs

I had/have same problem every now and again I pull away fast I have a odd noise from drivers side front like the wheel gets pulled back and rubs even though it dont. That's the only way I can describe it.

Can you get a video of the noise?

Jamie-C

posted on 27th May 12 at 20:12

Not very fast, it does almost instantly when pulling away so about 5mph. It made a similar noise before and it was the heatshield behind the disc rubbing against it, just so we know what kind of noise I'm on about.

I took it up and down my lane every week so it wouldn't be down to little use either.

I swear this car mustn't want to go on the road  little things keep popping up, supposed to be going in for an MOT on tuesday!

How fast do you need to be going? Could try getting pushed with the engine off if you want to rule out anything engine.

Brakes would also do that if they've not been used in a while but it cures itself with normal driving.

Would it not be clicking if a CV joint was away? Fitted all new CV boots and put new grease in them all.

jay.jay

could be a knackered cv joint mate, have a look for a tear in the boot

Its not the engine hitting the chassis, theres not much movement in the mounts anyway.

Its a C20XE engine but I don't think its related to the engine. Noise is coming from drivers side front, at first I thought maybe the shaft was slipping.

It does it to when I've got full lock on left :boggle:

I've had a look and can't see anything obvious.

Engine moving about, and a pulley hitting the chassie?

What engine, and what part of the car is the noise coming from.

Jamie-C

When pulling away quickly in the Corsa its making a grinding noise. Sounds like theres no material left on the pads, like metal to metal. Doesn't do it when driving normal though :boggle:

Any ideas?
