You can tell by looking at them but its hard to explain, if you take a few pictures we should be able to tell you. quote: Good point, they are also less than fun on a saturday afternoon in winter when its pissing it down and the only way to get a sump is to lay in a muddy puddle under a car propped up with a wobbly jack and a corsa spare wheel!

ARP rod bolts will be fine with either sump. Scrap yards are often the best, cheapest and quickest way to get parts!

didn't think of that lol might have to go down once my car is running again. Would ARP bolts be ok with the alloy sump? i was thinking of strengthening the bottom end

Yeah it may well have been fitted by someone else before I got it.

ya, but i've been told that the alloy one is cheaper. I was wondering if there was any difference on performance or on how long they last

I had a steel sump on my X14XE so it might be steel. Are you buying one from new? the shop should be able to tell you just by looking at it

All x14/16/c16xe engines have alloy sumps.

I think they might have different length bolts and they have different gaskets but the holes are in the same places i believe

I think i need a new sump as i have a small leak coming from it. I've been told that there is a steel or alloy sump for my engine (x14xe). I was wondering is there any difference apart from the price? |
