If its the early type with flat fly, and a access panel on the gearbox, you can do it with the engine/box still in.

So the engine really needs to come out for the clutch to be changed?

Thanks.

Very easy to DIY once the engine/box is out the car.
Just unbolt the gearbox and slide the box off.
Undo the clutch plate bolts evenly.

Fit new plate and cover, centre the friction plate(use a socket or something, or a proper alignment tool)
Tighten the bolts to the required torque.

Change the release bearing on the box(1bolt iirc).

Then just slide the box back on and bolt it up.

Back in with the engine.

So you reckon it could be done myself? Is there any specific tools i would need?

the gearbox can be left in on the c20xe if u have the f20 box. there is a cover underneith that u can remove, then u remove the gearbox end cover and the 'c' clip from the end of the gearbox main shaft and pull the shaft back abit. this then comes out of the clutch and the clutch will come out the bottom. its not quite that simply but thats the rough idea. get a haynes manual for the calibra

get either a Sachs or LUK clutch. steer clear of national and valeo clutches, they are shite.

Ok, my clutch is slipping like mad in my xe corsa and is driving me nuts. I have looked around and the best price i can locate a clutch for is about £80. If anyone knows where i can pick up one cheaper please let me know.

Anyway, will the gearbox need to come out to change the clutch or can it be dropped down to do the switch?

As far as i'm aware the clutch is the early flat type and not the pot type clutch.

Also what would you call a fair price for changing a clutch on a 2.0 corsa??

Thanks for any help.
