to be honest if you have the power i'd go for a f13/5wr (which i now have on my c16xe) from driving it befor when i had the f13/5cr it is pretty much identicle gearing in 1st/2nd and 3rd, but 4th and 5th are a bigger jump so alot better for cruising on the motorway.. best to with an f13 tho as they have the inspection plate on the bottom of the box, so as long as you have a flat/non-pot type flywheel then its a peice of piss i.e half hour to change a clutch where as on an f15 you'd have to pretty much take the box out.....

it seems to be luck of the draw what gaerbox you have, certain models are supposed to have certiain boxes but not always. I've even seen an odd SR nova with no 4.18 fd and a wide ratio box. And for some reason i have seen C12NZ corsa's with 4.18 W boxes.

F13/5WR were fitted to 12NZ, C12NZ, X12SZ, C14NZ engines

if you want a model-to-gearbox comparisson chart I can do it as I got the information direct from Vauxhall for my own research into the Corsa B

Wrong, 12NZ engines has the F10/4 or 5 speed

my old c14se had an f15 box on there... its pot luck i think, I always prefered the f13 box on my x14xe lump though

my old corsa sri with x14xe engine had an f15 gearbox. I knew the person who had it from new and they never replaced the gearbox so it came like that from vaux.

I've heard of other cars like this too.

seems vaux just fitted whatever they had lieing around.

remember that not all f13 or f15 boxes are CR, infact very few. Check the codes on both boxes for W or C, also check the fd ratio, 3.94 not very much difference in acceralation. You'd want a 4.18 fd to make any noticable difference, even at that you'd want small wheels.
