Check this mate. I had the same problem

You can check your dead-locks are working(they have to for the alarm to work) by locking the drivers door as you described and then try unlocking the passenger door. If you can unlock the car from the passenger side then you have a dead-lock problem on your drivers door lock.

:look: sounds like your alarm isnt workin. try setting the alarm (turnin key 90 degrees) then get a pound coin and hit the drivers window

The way i checked mine was to pop the bonnet but not fully open it, arm the alarm and then open the bonnet..... if the alarm is working properly the horn shuld start beeping.

Are you talking about the standard vauxhall alarm?

if u want to check your alarm is arming leave your passenger door open and lock your car at the drivers side. after a few seconds (maybe a minute) your alarm should go off

blue_lew

but this is just what i cannot grasp!
surely there must be some indication that the alarm and immob. are armed?
my mates M-reg corsa sri makes a bleep and the indicators flash

Mo

there is no fbo with the car its all on the key. when u lock the car (with deadlocks) the alarm and immobliser is activated.

blue_lew

posted on 20th Apr 05 at 18:34

how do i get one then as nothing came with the car?!

Richie

Mo

posted on 19th Apr 05 at 22:07

the little button next to the interior light it to turn the window shock sensors on and off (if i remember correctly) this is incase u leave any pets in the car the alarm won't go off

blue_lew

posted on 19th Apr 05 at 20:14

ok thanks, but this is still not turning on

only when i press the little button by my interior light??? :boggle:

Mo

no only the l.e.d indicates that the alarm and immobiliser has kicked in

blue_lew

posted on 19th Apr 05 at 15:59

and is there no other indication?

ie indicators flashing or a beep?

thedragon

posted on 19th Apr 05 at 10:02

If u turn the key all the way it will arm the alarm.... u shuld see the red led flash inside once the alarm is armed.

Richie

posted on 19th Apr 05 at 09:24

the LED is usually what indicates that the alarm is active?

Usually there is a grace period from when u arm the car and before the alarm is actually active.

For example, if you press the button on ur remote then try opening the door, the alarm wont go off because it hasnt gone out of the grace period. They usually do this if uve left something in the car to save arming it again ect.

If you press the button to arm the car, wait 2 minutes, then try opening the car, the alarm should go off

*EDIT* just realised what u meant about the button on the key, u mean its for the little lock finder light on there yeh?

Ur missing the fob i would have thought

ive definitely got an alarm, as when i disconnected the neutral it scared the s**t outa me! also got internal sensor and LED, but how do you set the alarm when you lock the car, i always deadlock (remove key at '9 o'clock')?? i just cannot see any indication the alarm is set when i lock up? i have a button on my key, but this is just for the stupid little LED.
