I went for the Alpine type R 12" with the matching alpine sub box. A local ICE dealer is supplying and fitting it for me tomorrow.

The girlfriend is going to go mad when she finds out how much it costing me

Well from the advise of AdiSRI I've gone for the MRD501 amp. I had feeling I was gonna be spending more than I originally intended

Thanks for all your help

Steve

i have to agree, i think that the amps shud be capable of 50% more piower than the subs rated, then the gain kept low to keep the quality up...

on that double deal id be wanting the MRD-M1001 not the 501...

yep, i wouldnt get 1 amp for 2 subs, defo get 2 amps. otherwise they will be underrun

This is getting confusing.Think I will get the MRD 501 with 1 Type R sub.

That should do me as I'm not a bass junkie

2 x Alpine SWR-1221D 12" Type R 1000W max (300W RMS each) subwoofers
Alpine MRD-M501 - 550W RMS @2ohms amplifier
This is turning out to be very expensive

your gonna be 100wRMS (maybe more) under powered with that deal mate :(

ideally, you want an amp pushing out 650wRMS ro cater for the amps, plus allowing abit of head room to cut gains to reduce distortion. But then again, its even more cash etc etc

the second choice is probably better, but the mrd-M300s are a bit pap, personally id get a MRD-M501 to power that sub, give ya self some leg room.

CAD have the M501 on special at £249.99 atm get in there!

the 501 has just come out hasnt it?

Used to have two type r's run by a mrdm500 amp and i couldnt fault it.

get a phono splitter, about 50p from any electronics shop, halves the impedance, but u wouldnt see any noticable difference in quality. Alot cheaper!

yep a photo splitter is all u need ;)

its worth the extra m8.

Trust me a struggling M300 is not something u want to hear, it is the bain of my life!

I found out the answer to my own question on how to run two screens of one playstaion 2. I need a video amp.

Alpine do one priced at £35 :)

The trouble with that M501 is that by the time I buy the box, sub and wiring it will work out to be around £440 or so. More than I really wanna spend.

Mo, how have you set the playstation to run 2 tft screens?

Thanks

Steve

lol thats what i got now. ps2, 2 screens and alpine HU, alpine mid/tweeters, and alpine sub and amp. Not the best system in the world but i'm happy with it

welshdude

yeah I did think so but the all in one box seems like less hassle.

I'm not very good with this sorta thing.

I've just a bought a slimline ps2 along with 2 7" sunvisor screens so I'm looking for a sub to compliment the system :)

i'd say the second choice is better out of the 2

Would the below sub be worth buying say over a seperate amp and sub?

http://www.caraudiodiscount.com/acatalog/alpine_subwoofer_packages.html

I wanna keep the sub and amp to the Alpine make to match my front speakers and headunit.

This is my other choice

Alpine SWR-1241D Type R 12" subwoofer,
Alpine MRD-M300 Digital Amplifier

http://caraudiosecurity.com/catalog/product_info.php+manufacturers_id+3+products_id+1028

What to do?
