I NEED to get 3 EXTRA batteries in the boot, to power 10Kilowatts of bass. I wanted to know how long my OE alt. would last, and as Austin said, I wouldnt get a decent charge on the extra ones anyway. If i only uprated the alternator, and no batteries, i wouldn't get anywhere near enough power to my amps.

wouldnt it be better to uprate the alternator rather than batteries anyway?

Corb mate, mines just started to show signs of giving up... Like you I have a 55A alt. Ive had my car 3 years since new and only put a REAL system in it 2years ago along with a single Optima in the boot. Recently my altenator has started 'ringing' whenever their is the slightest load on it!! I KNOW a 70A one will fit and I know the 120 Vectra job exists but I dont think it will fit without custom work... Let me know if the 120 will fit as I need to upgrade SOON!

do u reckon thats what i should upgrade my altenator to when i get my isntall done? I dont wanna have to pay loads for a special one! (i will be running 2x 1000w rms subs somehow, probably with an audiobahn 2400w rms @1ohm amp)

Ive now got my other 2 yellow tops, how long do you reckon my standard 55A alternator will last, charging my standard 300CCA(approx) battery up front and 3 Yellow Tops in the boot?
