CHeers Mike, the sump drain plug appears to be facing the front of the car and it however about 4-5 inches up from the base of the sump ?

don't forget you need to tighten the black cap on the top of the oil filter with a torque wrench

If you get halfords 6 bit set of torque bits the biggest one should fit your car.

More and more these days car manufacturers use torque bits (star drive) because they are less prone to stripping the heads than bolts or screws.

Oil filter is like a small paper cylindrical element that sits in a plastic housing. Probably to cut down on wastage from metal oil filters, environmentla and all that. Comes with a rubber seal for the cover too, to replace the old one.

Daimo B: The corsa engines with paper filters need no filter remover! IT's just a big spanner or socket to remove the plastic cap.

Oh, while the bolts out, get a new crush washer as well (from vauxhall).

quote: Sump plug will be underneath the engine. Can't miss it, on my B its a 22-24mm bolt (can't remember). Oil filter, easy to find. Would suggest a trip to Halfords and get an oil filter remover. Makes like a life a lot easier.

The question was not if you think its worth it or not, but where the bits are.

My C is on 14,000 miles and had a service at 10,000, a friend who just sold his 1.2 Comfort, has just given me the stuff he got for an oil change, so I might as well do an intermediate oil change on mine. Oil is Castrol RS , bit extravagant, but free to me. |
