My C is on 14,000 miles and had a service at 10,000, a friend who just sold his 1.2 Comfort, has just given me the stuff he got for an oil change, so I might as well do an intermediate oil change on mine. Oil is Castrol RS , bit extravagant, but free to me.

The oil filter is a small cylindrical paper one he gave, me wherebouts is the canister it goes in and what tools do I need, also what toold for sump plug, its torx or something is it ?

Cheers

Why?

SXis only need servicing every 20,000 miles. If you rag it, yeah, would be agood idea, but 4000 miles on the Corsa C engine range, nah, simply not worth it.

The question was not if you think its worth it or not, but where the bits are.

Cheers Anyway.

Fine, in that case, i wont answer

Just wasting the part when it doesnt need to be done. Save it to when it does need doing.

Up to you.

The sump plug on a cosa B 1999 is a fairly big toque bit.. i imagine corsa C is the same.

The paper filter goes in the plastic houseing that is at about 45 degrees on the right of the rocker cover.

Make sure you drain oil before changing the filter

Sump plug will be underneath the engine. Can't miss it, on my B its a 22-24mm bolt (can't remember).

Oil filter, easy to find. Would suggest a trip to Halfords and get an oil filter remover. Makes like a life a lot easier.

Oh, while the bolts out, get a new crush washer as well (from vauxhall).

Daimo B: The corsa engines with paper filters need no filter remover! IT's just a big spanner or socket to remove the plastic cap.

I'm 75% sure the sump plug will be a torque bit too.

Oil filter is like a small paper cylindrical element that sits in a plastic housing. Probably to cut down on wastage from metal oil filters, environmentla and all that. Comes with a rubber seal for the cover too, to replace the old one.

Sump plug is star drive........

Whats up with normal nuts ?

More and more these days car manufacturers use torque bits (star drive) because they are less prone to stripping the heads than bolts or screws.

I think the idea behind the paper filter is to make it easy to change.... it's not the best filter i;ve ever seen thouhg

If you get halfords 6 bit set of torque bits the biggest one should fit your car.

don't forget you need to tighten the black cap on the top of the oil filter with a torque wrench

CHeers Mike, the sump drain plug appears to be facing the front of the car and it however about 4-5 inches up from the base of the sump ?

How does it drain all the oil out being up there ?

chewbaccaman: how tight do you mean? its only plastic, mine was fine with just a normal socket wrench... and even then i only did it "fairly tight"
