Ive done quite a bit of mine...........i did a lot in one go about a year ago which consisted of centre console, door handles, wing mirror covers. Then I was bored the other saturday so I did the clock surround and ignition surround.

How I did it was to take off pieces you are wanting painting then give them a good wash with soapy water to get of grease and dust etc which might be on them, then they will need priming (Halfords do big tins of primer for £5.99). Once primed then the top coat of colour can go on (I buy mine from Vauxhall so that I get a good colour match.....£6 for a little can tho), then once you have a nice even coat which may take a couple of coats to get right you need to laquer it (laquer comes with the paint from Vauxhall, or halfords sell it for £4.99).
You will need to give it a few coats of laquer to get them nice and shiny looking. I would then suggest leaving them to dry and harden properly for a few days then you can put them back on.

If you have the max power haines manual then you can follow that to remove pieces but dont beleive the centre console is as easy to take off and put back on as they make out cos its quite awkward and tricky. All other bits what I painted tho are easy to remove and put back on.

Some pics of my interior are below:

I also painted my Morrettes, scuttle and boot lock surround the same way.
