thats fast! i have a 1.6 sport with a de-cat full zorst system and bfo induction kit and top speed ive had is 128mph (then bottled it as i thought my car was about to sprout wings and fly off it was hovering that much)....but before i had the zorst system mine would only go to about 115-119mph (wouldn't quite do 120mph)

Thats bollocks. If i do my calculations correctly, my 1.6 Sport does 2kRPM at 40mph. This means at 80mph the engine will be at 4kRPM, roughly. now at 6kRPM, near the rev limiter, you will be travelling at around 118-120mph. How can you achieve 128mph with the standard gearbox?? If anything, your speedo is inacurate.

i think its about 7seconds 0-60 now, not sure havnt properly tested.
topspeed i can only get 115mph with full car, with just one passenger i easily hit 120mph and then i eased of the gas coz my windscreen wipers looked like they were gonna rip off also the engines not in top shape, needs tuning!!!

What mods have you had done??

I didn't think santa pod recorded 0-60 times? They didn't when I was there.

Monkey magic, there is nothing to 'tune' on your engine, its fixed management.

Your mates Seat probably weighs loads and a turbo needs more power than a revy n/a car to get the same times.

114,8 bhp at 7000 rpm, and when I reach that speed the car is travelling at aprox 7000 rpm, but it takes ages, and miles of highway to get there

you did not travel at 143mph then. You need to be pushing at least 200bhp, either from the 1.6 on TB's, a 2.0 on TB's or a 2.0 Turbo. You speedo is very inaccurate.

It's like yours CIBERMONKEY
But make some calculations with the gear ratios and speed at 7000 rpm should be.....
Mantzel quotes max speed of 208 kmh with my engine spec...

My old Corsa had a proven 113bhp and it would of struggled to get an idicated 130mph so I think 143mph is highly optimistic

I own a Tigra, not a Corsa
Lower CX and lower frontal area...
But 137 mph is dead easy with my car, and I have people who can watch this mark in my car
143 mph will be attainable, with a favorable gradient, etc, and only happened 3 times, but it took ages to get there

Yea but what im saying is someone is claiming to get 0 - 60 in 7 seconds from a 1.6 GSI which only gives jus over 100 BHP would never be as fast as a seat ibiza that gives out 200 bhp even with its extra weight.

A Standard Tigra beats a Standard Corsa X16XE engine by 5mph due to the way the car is designed. However, unless u've got a redtop or extensive engine mods, you wont get to 143mph in it!

137mph What mods u done again? I presume ur running over 150bhp to think you can get to that kind of speed? On 15"s as well?

Otherwise, you aint doing that speed. Speedo may say it, but your not actaully doing it!

if you want to know the max speed/top end on your car it helps to know the final gearing on your car. rough calculation goes like this:

my 2001 corsa c sri 1.4 has a final gearing per 1000rpm in fifth of 18.9mph.
max power is at 6000, so 6*18.9=113.4mph
this is the theoretical maximum speed of the car. theoretical mind coz you've got to figure road/weather conditions, fuel, who's in it, aerodynamics blah blah blah...
the limiter kicks in at 6.5, so theoretically 6.5*18.9=122.85. (indicates 125 by the way and it's been there once after a very long bit of road, otherwise 105 to 115 depending on the conditions... )

for a 1.2 sxi you've got 19mph per 1000rpm in fifth, max power is at 5600, so ..
5.6*19=106.4mph, theoretically.

if you want to faster you have to change the gearing or raise the limiter, presuming the car has enough power in the first place.

I never said that I travelled at 143 mph, really!
You need a GPS to measure the speed, very accurately
What I say, and I have whitnesses, is that I saw 143mph displayed in the speedo, nothing more
And has Mantzel quotes 208 Kmh=130 mph for my car with my engine spec, I think this is dead right
