some of u may know my car wasnt very happy last night and this mornin and was makin a rather loud tappety noise.....

spent all afternoon (dont laff) at flushing and changing the oil and its runnin like a dream now (did it all myself )

ive since learnt i should change my oil alot more regular then once a year so goin on the price of tappets i may of needed i think the £15 it cost me to do was very well spent and i will be doin it more often in future

so the lesson is if u aint changed ure oil in a while then do it

I suppose it depends on the mileage and how you drive your car, which would determine when to change the oil in your car?

My New Corsa has now done nearly 6k. And has had some extreme thrashing in that time. Should i be thinking about changing mine soon? How about oil filter?

You are supposed to change the oil filter every time you change the oil...

same for me, just wait for the little service light to come up, see what it says and get it done, sorted!!

also as a note, I wouldnt change the oil filter every time I change the oil, I would do it every other time, this way the element gets a little more blocked and it can filter out the smaller particles!!

Common sense tells you that you should change it on a regular basis eg 6000 miles or every 6months whichever is first.
