Right, simply its got to be a diesel.

Im looking at any of these 4

Golf 1.9 TDi
Leon 1.9 TDi
Astra 2.0 DTi
Focus TDCi

what do people reccomend or have any helpful hints.

Basically new looking around the £12-£14k mark.

Kinda think I want a golf or Astra at the moment.

Anyone any comments?

i read in a mag the lean has a good diesel engine and is a good car,

I am thinking of the golf. Took a Polo for a test drive yesterday, 1.4TDi, was ok till it hit about 3.5k revs, then died!

Think it is going to have to be a golf.

I want the GT tdi but the insurance I think would be so high, group 14.
Leons and golf engines are basically identical, Leon is 110 BHP golf normal one is 100bhp, but gt is either 130 or 150.

Like you say the Golf and Leon have the same engine. Depends if you want value for money, and not as good a brand Seat (although a nicer car IMO), or the Golf with the more upmarket image .

You considered the Ibiza? They do a 130 brake 1.9TD sport. £13.5k, but seems to have loads of spec. Plus it does neigh on 130mph, and 0-60 in 9.4

u can get a 130bhp leon now and a leon is a audi a3 /golf/octavia all same car but id get a leon same car less money

Just don't be another TDi driver who thinks their car is amazingly fast What is it with them and cutting people up?

I'd personally go with either the Leon (less common car) or the Focus (like the ride in the Focus)...

I would go for a golf tdi, I have one they are the dogs, I get 50mpg round town and its not slow either. if your intrested im selling mine GT TDI 110 bhp black

Just test drove a Leon TDi SE 1.9 130 Bhp. Much nicer than the golf without a doubt, internal and externally. Fast as aswell, showroom guy told me give it a thrashin!

At least try the Focus, its got one of the best diesel engines going. Its quick too, especially when it overboosts!

130 VAG can be chipped to 180hp.

depends what sort of size f car you want. if I were getting a TDi to get to wrok I would propbably get the skoda fabia and chip that to 180hp
