Now that my corsa is sold i am looking for a 306. My first choice was the GTI-6 but the insurance will be about £1800 where as the HDi would only be £800.

I am stuck on which car to choose,

does anyone have information on either of the 2 cars, like good/bad points of each?, what to look out for? or even know of one for sale?

also could someone recommend a few good insurance companies? I have tried Liverpool Victoria and Adrian Flux, the above quote was the best so far and it was from tesco.

106 GTi. I love these cars. Got a standard R reg 1.1 XL model which i'm hoping to mod over the next year or so, see how the cash goes init. I'm thinkin of doin the stereo at the mo, then in 10 months put it through an MOT and get rid for about 3k and get a standard 1.4 106. Do you think i will get 3k for it, it should have done under 40k, FSH and 2 owners. Thinking of putting a CD changer in, two 16 * 9s, sub woofer, amp.

the car went for £2250 in the end kris.

I was thinking of the rallye aswell but my colour choice would either be black or dark metalic blue and i have only seen the rallye in red (plus i want all the extras )

Has anyone raced one of the GTI-6`s just wondering how quick they are?

Also i assume the HDi would be the same as any other diesel in that they can clock up high milages without much engine wear or poor reliability. How good is the lifespan of the petrol engines?

I think you get them 306 Rallye's in black and i know you get them in white.

Also they're faster than the Gti-6 due to being lighter

And not much electric gubbins to go wrong either

my budget is £5500 max and i'm looking for one with quite a low milage and preferably phase 2.

I dont really want a modified one cause the insurance will be high enough anyway, plus from what i have read they are pretty much well balanced (in terms of acceleration, braking and handling) as standard.

Does anybody know of one for sale?

CORSA NUT that rallye sounds interesting, is that "rhyl" in north wales? dont suppose you know the milage do you?

can anyone suggest some more insurance companies?

It might be sold now mate but there's always some in the AutoTrader!

5.5K will get you one EASY.

As you say there about as balenced for handling and driving as a car will come from the factory so you should not have to do much to it

Try Admiral.com for a good quote!

Try a Pug garage. I got a bloody good deal on my 106. Plus if anything goes wrong they will fix it for 12 months.
