Havent got a clue. Stopped making it in 1995. Just model changes i guess. Later GSis were fitted with the X16XE engine to meet Euro2/3 emission laws.

This has got to be the most boring argument. Every other week the thread appears.
Both the corsa and saxo are similarly matched one might be 'slightly' faster than the other but hardly thing in it.

Hmm think you will find they did not get raped at all - 1 corsa was significatly faster than the saxos (which had more modifications than any of the saxos running) - the rest were of similar performance.
Are people just unable to accept the cars are equally matched?

VTR/VTS drives better than any corsa... C20LET corsa handling I cannot comment on... but I suspect its pants round a track... Andy Hamilton has the right idea... 1.6TD's decent suspension setup... that will handle well. Would rather a VTS than an XE corsa or C20LET

I would also like to state... it cost's ALOT more money to get a corsa quicker than a VTS... 1000 of engine mod's on a VTS... and your in the 14's

probably about £3k. And to get a Saxo into the 13's as well as it not blowing up half way down the strip is considerably harder.

ive test driven a vts and been out in steve's 106 gti and i must say that a corsa gsi/1.6 sport is a very poor car in comparison

a VTS is quicker, and steves GTi is about 140bhp.

not just in terms of speed or power, but handling and steering quality
saxo/ 106 is a fun little point and go tool
corsa is more a point and roll effort

corsa c sri still isnt a match for the saxo like, i saw driven test the 1.8 against the vts and the zetec s and it came off worse compared to both

i cant envisage the corsa c gsi being a shit hot handler personally, not compared to saxo

Its going to be something special both performance and handling wise. 0-60 will be mid 6 seconds i reckon, and will handle like its on rails. The brand new corsa facelift chassis has been totally re-worked.

0-60 figs for the gsi have been estimated at 7 secs
i am still skeptical as to the handling, dont think its guna be up there with the 172 etc
