I am completely fucking screwing.

Was meant to be picking up my car tomorrow at 2pm but have just had a phonecall from the salesman saying he had some bad news! Apparently over night someone had got into the back of the showroom and had vandalised some of the cars. Guess what, MINE was one of them.

He says the whole roof is going to need to be resprayed cos there is about 4 scratches on the roof that go right down to the metal.

Why do the scum do it?

Edited to say that I'm not screwing anymore!

Gutted I'd knock some money off the asking price now or walk away. If I was spending the money you are I'd want a completely immaculate one that hasn't been fcuked with.
Why did they only just let you know?

Lower the asking price substantially, or as others have said, just walk away...

Sorry to hear that though, Patrick...

Cos i love you.

On a serious note though, as the car has been vandlised through no fault of your own, and you are going to be without a car for x amount of time, i would demand some money off.

End of the day, you may be buying a second hand car, BUT, this car now needs repair work. I wouldn't be happy and would insist on money off of the car. If they dont like it, tell tehm you dont want it, want all your money back (and your well within your right also), and spend some time looking for another clean model.

See, i can be nice to you too

They are saying that they will fix it all and return it to prestine so can I still ask for money to be knocked off?

I've already had some knocked off after the initial haggle when first looking at the car. Might just ask to get some bits put on for free. Like the grill and spoiler that I was going to buy. Thats £500 worth.

They broke into a car showroom and scratched to roof of a second hand Astra? Sounds more like an apprentice panel beater decided to rest his wrench on the roof and the salesman is trying to cover it up!

I would walk away from it or ask for a hefty price reduction.

tell em its inferior, u wanted brank spanking new, tell em that in your eyes its the same as accident/transit damaged cars...

although i know a bloke who repairs new cars when they come to garage and have been damaged in transport......

they just get sold as new, and no one knows, think it happens a lot.

could at least moan about the extra wait..
