removing the bolts gives you a few more mm between the wheel and the arch, therefore reducing the chances of the wheel rubbing against the arch when fitting larger wheels.
(Same as what Mike Said!)

Yep I know that, and also cuz my car aint that new the trim doesn't fit as flush as it used to so i'm hoping bonding will get rid of the gaps. But supposing I need to take them off in the future, will they be hard/impossible to get off? Anyone?

i used tigerseal for mine, no probs. about a tenner for a large tube. goes hard in a few hours, so its driveable, but can take a few days to go proper solid.
