Has anyone got a viper induction kit? What does it sound like??
Also, I would like to give my car a slightly more gruff noise but dont want a silly frty exhaust or over-the-top induction fart. Any ideas??

pipercross vipers start at 200 quid, and aint worth it
I had one on my audi a3, kept falling off, fitment was poor ant the actual filter fell apart so it wasnt actually filtering anything. Id go for a different filter and get a few cold air feeds going on

Viper would be the exact same fitment as any other Pipercross so if you're having problems, best get on the phone to Pipercross who'll help you to fit it.

Prices are £200/£250 depending on if your application uses the cold air feed.

Sounds a lot better than a typical induction kit IMHO. Normal cones are just noise, but sealed units resonate and give a nice warble.

Proven power gains from the Viper on a number of applications and other than a panel filter, are the only type of induction kit that work on awkward engines like the C20XE that hesitates and kangaroo's when sucking in hot air.

I would like to suggest that anyone is a fool that thinks a viper is actually better than anyother filter. you only gain from de-restricking the airbox.

No Vibs, you gain from not sucking in hot air.

Maybe it's not as noticeable on your Fiat lumps, but most C20XE engines misbehave on a normal induction kit.

I would not spend £200-odd on what is basically an air filter in a box.

Modified OE air boxes (when modified correctly of course) basically do the same job for very little cost!

That may be cone filter vx Viper, but has anyone ever done a comparison of OE filter/box (standard and/or modified) vs Piper?

Was the OE airbox standard or modified though? And was the panel filter K&N or similar, or OE?

Well without seeing a pic of his airbox you can't really tell if the way he 'modified' it benefits the engine or not, in terms of cold air.

On my Astra, I didn't drill any holes or remove the whole bottom of the airbox, I cut a section on the airbox from where the wheel arch side is at the bottom of it, removed the plastic 'plate' where the front grille is, and I have just a straight flexible hose going from the grille to the rubber round-to-square adaptor thing that goes on the airbox.

I will try to take some pics at some point this week so that my explanation makes more sense.

With the way I have modified my airbox, I seem to have more mid-high range torque, NO flat spots, and of course that nice Scooby sounding induction growl!

This is using the OE filter as well by the way, I will get a K&N panel filter for my airbox soon and see if it makes a difference.
