ok i have been reading the post about this day and i think it is a top idea, BUT i was also thinking how much more fun it would be to race up the strip Vs a proper powerful car to see how far your time are off there and how much u lose by.
its ok having class's but really the winner of each class is going to go off there best time, not whos won who.
i have alot of friends who have very Big powerful cars, which i would rather race one of them, than maybe daimo.....
i think between us all we could get some really powerful cars to come and make the day alot more fun.

i could prob bring a TVR tuscan, Austin Martin Vaquish, Marcos LM500 etc

i know which would be more fun for me.......
beardy (2lt 16) Vs Damio (2lt 16)
beardy Vs TVR Tuscan

just a idea, what people think?

the idea of classes is that people who can't get insured on 2.0 litres and thus limited to things like 1.2 16v Sxi's can have their own competition and not be shadowed by the 2.0 litre boys.

I think it'd be cool if we did a few class vs class races... e.g. me actually racing people from my class rather than just going down the strip where I can and getting my timing slip at the end of the day.

hehe, I think the whole class thing on the day will basically go to pot m8 anyway. People will just end up racing anyone... and I already know how well my Sxi Power does against GSI's ...

Rofl @ me beating that GSI down the strip at Pv2003 ... Bluecorsa Sxi says he's got a picture of me beating it...

To be fair - it was a woman driver =]

I do see where your coming from Beardy, just outlining the main reason for the class things anyway. No one's gonna force someone to not race someone else just because they're different classes.

not a bad idea Beardy, i know a few ppl with mega powered cars not sure if this is their sort of thing but i could try, i know 2 ppl with Diablo's, one with 360 modena, one with countach, 1 with Noble m12, along with a couple of evos and rx7's, maybe a Skyline GTS-T.

I seriosly doubt they would be interested but no harm in trying eh

hehe, you'd be suprised - it'd put me in my place I remember the great feeling when I was on a stretch of dual carriageway and went to challenge a Subaru Impreza WRX and it pissed all over me!

It was a great feeling just seeing how fast that thing can go! but also made me realise how slow my car actually was rofl

well ok, your taking it to the extrame now
but i think me and the rest of the 2lt lads would like to see how we do
and i think the 1.2 lads would like to see how they do with the 1.4 or GSi's

I agree with what your saying Beardy, use the times to work out the classes and let people race who they like on the day (which I thought was the idea anyway)...

I personally will probably just be racing other class b's though just so its less embaressment...

Santa pod is a scary place when your in a 1.2 16v and everyone else has 2.0 turbos and your hearing dump valves going off left right and center (PV2003) ... I'm sure a lot of people won't know that feeling until they get there (probably half the reason so few of the smaller cars went down the strip at Pv2003) ... but the class thing is one way of making people not feel / look so silly going down the strip.

If some of the class B's are getting faster times than the class C's I don't see any problem with them racing the C's...

Paul J

Edit - just read what you wrote above, see your point now about needing goals - Why not? there's no harm in it

Personally I’d rather not race a TVR and be completely humiliated by it as it will do a low 14 as standard.

Just 2.0litre Corsa's and 1.6 Corsas for me

Whats the point of racing against stupidly quick cars? Not as if you will be anywhere near them!

My fastest ever 1/4 is 15.118 @ 93mph which I am very happy with considering my car is only a n/a 1.6 16v but I got this time at Santa Pod when racing a tuned Nissan Skyline. By seeing that thing go I thought my 1/4 was going to be something like 18.9!! Made me look like I was parked when really my time wasn't that bad.

Personally I think it is more fun racing people more near your power range that way it is more of an andrenillen rush when it is close.
