an extra 800 quid a month before tax is not by any stretch of the imagination enough to justify moving 23hrs away from friends and family

It would be alot more than £800 a month extra. £30,000 is the annual salary yeah, but then I get a nice big tax reduction because of having my family with me!

The only downsides are:

In 3 years you have to uprot and have all the hassle of moving back here

and the chances of it snowing on Christmas day are a garanteed 0%!

Take the 24k and be done with it. 6k is not even worth the hassle of moving out there!

if it was me, id jump at the chance, but then again i have no tie's. but still look at it being a new start for all of you's!

and as for the supposedly being lonely, thats just a crock of shite. you'd have to be a total nonse not to be able to make friends!

3yrs is not a long time! i moved over the the isle of man (might not be the same distance away!!) on my todd 18mths ago, didnt no anybody!

it feels like it was only yesterday i moved over!

It is a 23 hour flight away and I'd be out there for 3 years!

I don't have to take it but the money I would be earning would easily be double what I am earning now! I'd be given a house rent free, car rent free, a generous travel allowance for trips back to the UK, school costs for the kids, tax reduction due to family attending with me, hardship allowance the lot. But Canberra, I really don't know what to do. Think the missus would go ape shit if I asked her about it!

I've got some talking to do when I get home!

I suggest you have a slice of Steve's GTF pie and go
