2020 the year that keeps on giving! so here we go again, anything think it will end up being a lot longer than 4 weeks?

Hopefully it won't stifle business too much, can't really afford a downturn especially as the support packages this time around won't go nearly as far.
I can't see how we won't keep having them, I've no idea what the long game is now or how long public patience will last being messed about and losing money. I do think they bought opinion last time and had everyone at being paid to stay at home, if you subtract the commute and lunch bill you probably find most people were making more money. That won't be the case again.

Agree completely about those that were happy as larry logging in their laptops to make it look like they are online, then proceeding to watch netflix for the day whilst being paid with no commuting costs. Yes, wont be the same this time.
I worry that it won't be 4 weeks, can see extensions into spring 
This time I am in work, work in a hospital, not front line but I expect to be busy getting involved in all sorts.
Gutted the gym's are closing, it keeps me on the straight and narrow. I drank A LOT last lockdown, don't want to go that way again. Feeling amongst everyone I know is major anxiety right now.
We had one of the hottest springs in history didnt we? everyone in gardens chatting to neighbours whilst being paid to sit in the sun. Now its rainy, grey & cold November...

I think it will be 4 weeks if people actually follow the rules which is something cretins in this country cannot do. Everywhere I look rules are being broken and people going 'oh I'm so over it' - COVID is far from over.

Unfortunately its very likely the majority of people will completely ignore the lockdown and, cases will keep rising and we'll be forced into a longer, stricter lockdown.

See I've turned a bit of a corner.
If the first one worked, why are we having another one.
If the first one didn't work, why are we having another one.
In other news the computer shop down the road from work are no longer accepting visitors meaning I'll probably need to pay 11 quid for them to have a courier drive it 10 miles and to the depot and back and smash it up

I'm actually not fussed this time, I've got my support bubble, my parents (well Mum) has a screaming ab-dabs about it all so don't really want to see me unless we do a family video call, DIY shop and car shop it open and I've got a puma engine to fit into a ka.

The first one did work, deaths were into single figures and cases were non-existent in most towns.. The issue is the government then told everyone to go out for cheap meals and opened everything back up again in pretty much one swoop against all of the scientific advice.

Wait until we leave the EU, paying an extra 11 quid for something for no good reason will seem trivial.

Glad to hear you are in work now  Was it one of the NHS IT jobs you mentioned previously?
Very busy at our trust, certainly had a friday the 13th kind of day yesterday 
Not all due to COVID though just normal winter bullshhit. Fortunately the last lockdown was in the quite period and all elective was cancelled. Now its busy with winter and they are understandably trying not to cancel the routine stuff this time. Not sure how long that will last though.....
Seems very different this lockdown though. Seems just as busy out and most places seem to still be open really that I have seen

Yes I was lucky to get the IT Project Manager job at a hospital only 30 mins drive away. Overall I am enjoying it but its a much less senior role then what I am used to and the stuff I am delivering does not add much to the CV. I am grateful for the job, working with a mostly good bunch of people (clearly there are many that are carried by the team and will just stay there for the pension), and its interesting to get some experience in a Hospital.
The patients infected with Covid are certainly ramping up, last week the hospital passed their 19th may peak for cases. Many non-frontline staff are being moved around with a lot going back to working from home. The trust are planning to keep elective going for now. I guess there were a lot of lessons learned earlier this year and there are less unknowns this time around, hence better prepared. There is a lot of anxiety and stress amongst clinicians though.
I agree that it feels like a very different lockdown, I also feel that not much has happened and everyone is going about their business. For a gym goer like me who 100% relies on it for my mental health (I know that sounds cliche but adopting the gym life style at a challenging time in my early 20's probably saved my life) it feels like a middle finger to gyms and the hospitality sector. I do not get the logic of how schools/students carry on as normal yet gyms with the super strict sanitising processes are forced to close.

Nice one  less senior at the moment but a foot in the door for a bigger role if one comes up though. Lots changing in terms of the NHS going electronic and coming out of the dark ages of paper records. So plenty of opportunities on the horizon.
Our trust is throwing new jobs out left right and center at the moment with all the vaccines been on the horizon. Lots of work forces been arranged so that it can be distributed and given as quickly and efficiently as possible.
I still am not sure on what the current lock down is achieving and if I fully agree with it. Seems a bit half cut again. should be all or nothing really.
Certainly is hard one on the gym front, maybe try an get a routine of outside exercise in?

I hope some bigger opportunities come up, I have worked too hard the last decade, lots of exams and certifications to then back track and stall my career at this stage. There is a lot of resistance to change and a lot of "well this is the way we have always done it" and already I can see several ways in which the Trust are burning a lot of money and wasting resource. The private sector is picking up, so will play it by ear next year.
I have been training on my cold, wet driveway lol. It's better than nothing but its the getting out of the house, being around others and having proper equipment that means its no where near the same. I have some friends that have just given up on home training, you don't get the mental health benefits from that so much and it becomes very difficult to self motivate.
Optimistic Norfolk will be in a low tier come 2nd December

Although that's as much your motivation to drive it forward as the presence of opportunities, I would also think health sector still gives you some path. Far more than travel.

Ah the NHS not liking change? Really
When ever people outside the organisation start they are always baffled as to why we are so archaic with the way things are done.
We are currently going "online" with our prescribing and trying to convince Dr's that it is the way forwards and chasing paper around belongs in the last decade is painful!
Although I cant talk as my desktop got upgraded to windows 10 this week and I threw a strop as its all different and I dont know how to work it 
The cold and the wet certainly dont help the motivation stakes. Took all my effort to get out the door for some training after work today. I assume the gym is back online now in your area?
