All of the bids have been cancelled, looks like it was getting run-up by the seller..

Does seem to buck the trend somewhat, I'm all for getting the right money for a nice car but 8 grand with that length of time left didn't look right.

Think that's a guy that used to be on here. Looks nice and all but no way is he going to get 8k.

Ripped seat is also period and by that I mean as soon as it reaches 50k miles.

were they that bad

I didn't have mine long enough to get that kind of seat wear/destruction.

Lovely pink paint though

Haha ‘complete restoration’ was likely an over exaggeration on my behalf but got views, bids and people talking. The car was built from top to bottom all new GM parts etc, fully stripped, rebuilt and painted. The jacking covers were present tho don’t worry haha, the seat.. I had a few companies look at it but matching the fabric was somewhat difficult and I didn’t want it repairing to look anything but perfect so I left it, plus as most have mentioned it’s a period feature and you’ll struggle to find a GSI these days without worn bolsters. Steering wheel, again.. impossible to find new and I’ve had a Gsi wheel refurbed in the past and it just wasn’t right. But yeah, great build, underside was just as nice, new and refurbed everything! Il try and stick a thread together someday. Lastly, bids were genuine, had about 17 different bidders or something but I received a private offer that was too good to turn down so I ended the listing early. 8 grand was nothing compared to what I spent restoring it, the paint was about 3 grand alone, it had a brand new full GSI body kit which is worth a few Bob, then all the engine components, the endless headaches looking for missing parts and the hours in the summer piecing it all together. I mean some will say 8k for a Corsa is barbaric and I’d agree to an extent but I can hand on heart say this GSI will only go up in value. I made sure everything was done properly and the car runs and drives lovely. Engine was rebuilt all genuine parts again.

Did it sell in the end? I did wonder whether you were bidding it up to get it so high so quick.

Hi Ian. Yep it sold, it went to Ireland buddy. I wasn’t bidding on it, completely genuine bids. I had a lot of people sending me offers all 5/6k plus tbh

Yeah when you look at your other options, Ford prices gone silly and even stuff like 205s are now getting less obtainable. I suppose 6k for a Corsa begins to look cheap compared to anything else vaguely special from that era.

Yeah totally mate, I mean a decent GSI seem to fetch a good price last year though lately on eBay they have dropped in value, some decent ones on the bay priced 2-4K max so I was pleasantly surprised but mine was pretty special, everything was done properly no corners cut. I ended up buying it back a few weeks ago, missed having it and really regretted selling it in the first place.

A joke? Lol. Honestly Ian it’s a nightmare getting it done so it looks totally untouched. The trimmer’s local to me all said they’d happily do it but it would be mildly off in comparison to the other seat. Il wait for a minter to come up on the bay, I’m in no rush.

Need to find a better trimmer. There is matching material out there or get a another seat and reuse the material. Chap who did mine had no issues.

Mine had the seats swapped over to equalise the wear, only downside being you had to reach in to the middle to tip the seat forward

I think once the padding goes it's game over. Remember mine never ripped but you could feel the plastic/metal bolster pushing into the fabric. Made sure I was careful getting in and out the whole time I had it to avoid damaging it.
Would love another one if I had a garage to keep something in as a toy etc.
