I've never considered it before, but I have 5 years NCB and clicked on the box to see what the difference is - Best part of £50 quid for the year...

Insurance is more expensive than I expected too

Do people take this option or leave it out?

I've always paid for it, never used it. Starting to wonder if it's worth it.

Never bothered with it.

If you claim, you lose 2 years of your NCD, not the whole lot. They don't appear to tell you that until you read the small print though, hence why many purchase it.

Took me 3 years to build up to my current 8 years ncd so have started protecting it. Id rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

I've found once you're over 25 and have 5+ years no claims, the price doesn't fluctuate that much. We're talking a maximum of £50 over a year, that's just over £4 a month.

Aye its deffo not what it used to be. Back in the day, 25 years old was the quoted benchmark for getting a high performance Subaru or Skyline etc.

Infact i seen 1 of my fb friends say they cant wait till their 25 to get a scooby.

Hi,
Please feel free to give us a try for insurance if you. If you wanted to PM me some contact details I'd be happy to arrange for one of my quotes team to give you a call back.

Nope, not worth it. I've been driving about 10 years and have never done it at a cost of around what... lets say £50 per year. So £500 all together I've saved. I did have one crash a couple of years ago, and I had to claim, NCB lost. Cost me £35 extra the following year!

Have sorted it now, cheers lads.

Went with Aviva this year on my VRS - they aren't on the comparison sites and were over £60 cheaper.

Have you tried Greenflag? I was with Aviva for a few years... were over £100 cheaper than anyone else. But was told to try Greenflag and they were over £200 cheaper than Aviva! Fucking well happy this year (all mods covered for free too)

I fully appreciate the fact that I might not be able to log in every day. I'm responsible for over 250 car clubs and forums affiliations so it is a full time job so sometimes it is difficult to get back every day. I try to help members wherever possible whether that be offering quotation services or answering insurance related questions members have.
Also I fully understand that not everyone likes having an insurance representative on board. You can't please everyone.
Regards,
Dan.

Lets be honest, you are only here to sell services from your company, a company that has a pretty questionable reputation on here to boot.

Your help amounts to basically "contact us for a quote"

To be fair I never had a problem with Flux; was with them for years. However, I've since found out that Greenflag blow them out of the water for modified/performance motors.

Edit: Hang on... Greenlight not Greenflag

Just about to renew insurance with my 13yrs NCB and got some paperwork through about Protecting it and basically seems pointless to protect it, i can have an accident or two and it doesn't lose me any NCB.

Also says NCB protection doesn't prevent your premium rising if you have an accident.

So not paying it this year, never crashed anyway so its all really money for nothing.
