So, someone drove into me on way home from work.

Pretty gutted to be fair, my car's driveable but it's trashed down one side.

On a main 40mph road with a middle lane that is used for either overtaking or pulling into driveways, guy pulled over to left looking for an address, so I check my mirrors, overtake him. As I'm level with him, he pulls straight across road and I tried to take evasive manoeuvres but he hit his front right straight into my front left wheel, then wing, then door.

Pretty cheesed off but it's done now. Dunno if he'll try and claim that it's my fault but I don't see how he can, he hit me when all is said and done.

Pics to follow.

Ouch. Could well be written off for that damage. A guy on Z4 forum had near identical damage and the quote came in at over £2000.

You need a dashcam. Would show you were innocent.

It's certainly made a mess, the car's my pride and joy though and I'll be genuinely gutted if it's written off.

At the minute, it sounds like it's the cost of a new wheel from BMW that could write the car off. I'm going to ask them if I can just buy a wheel off eBay instead of them supplying me a wheel and save the car. Luckily I know someone that works at the repair shop to help me out of possible.

Same accident happened to me and my dad. We were going round a bus at a bus stop, and a taxi was parked in front of the bus. As we got to the front of the bus he decided to do a u-turn. He blamed us saying he was turning right and we tried to over take! Ended up settling 50-50 out of court!

I'll be suprised if yours gets repaired. Assuming it's a 3 series by the looks of it.

My mate who works in an independent bodyshop reckons there's around £1500ish damage and I just don't have that money to be honest. As well as buying back the car.

If it gets written off you get paid out.

If they offer you £3k. They may offer £2.5k and you keep the car as is, pay for it fixing with the £2.5k, if you have people in the know you may get it cheaper, pocket the rest yourself.

Apart from potential sill damage, which might be a welding job, and whatever may be behind the arch, the majority is probably bolt on.

Will haven't taken a tiny part of the sill there yeah. The bit the wing sits on. Which was probably rusty anyway. They usually do. As do the wings. Easy enough job though.

I appreciate everyone's input. As silly as it sounds, I'm quite attached to this car, I've had it since 65,000 miles and know it inside out. It's got it's full service history still and I've always kept up with maintenance. I couldn't buy a car that I trust for the money these sell for which is my deciding factor really.

So, it's a write off, repair cost just tipped £4000 don't ask me how they conjured up figure.

Insurance company have offered a reasonable sum if I'm honest so will weigh up my options over the weekend.

Buy back cost of the car was £480, which I was amazed was so low. But it's the hassle of having it all repaired so not sure what route I'll take yet especially with it going to a Cat C or whatever it will be making resale value drop out.

Door, skirt, wing, arch liner, wheel. Apart from the wheel those parts I can't see coming to more than £250. Cheap repair

Even at a grand all in with the buy back and repair costs, it's still a cheap car.

Be silly not to accept the price to buy it back. I'll pay you that for it straight away

Looks an easy enough fix, but if not the spoiler and 3 of the wheels alone would get you that money back.

I used to have a clubsport, can see why you're attached. I'm on my third 330ci and they're lovely, especially for the price of them.

You've got to have it back at that price surely.
