I've only been in December, when all the Christmas stuff was on - markets/ice rink etc. The touristy stuff looked good but I didn't visit any of it.

My favourite place to visit in the UK.

Went to the castle in the summer amd loved it. Trams the best way of getting into the city centre, i'm told.

Princess street and George street for shopping.
George street and Royal mile for restaurants and pubs.
Royal mile up to the castle for sight seeing etc.
There's lots of streets between with shops, pubs etc as well but those are the main ones I'd say.

There's loads of buses should you venture out the centre. Wouldn't bother driving, the roads in Edinburgh are by far the worst I've driven over.
