Ok thankx, will see, I think 215 is a safer bet, not much for sale at the mom, have to wait till soemthing comes up. Until tehn new battery and heating fixing need to be done.

couldn't find any 17" Vauxhall rims cheap enough at the time so went for pro race 1.2.
then droped it 30mm on bilstien b12 kit handles great just needs better brakes and more power.
best mate has it now and says the same.

I thought same thing, thankx for reply big help. just need to find out if 225 will be ok or not. Like you said don't want breaking affected. Was your good before you lowered it handling wise after swapping wheels?

Vauxhall recommend 215 for the corsa d on 17"
handling wasn't bad before but bigger wheels did make a difference. just needs better brakes now to compliment the handling.

I guess I'm more worried about wet grip, going up to 215s from 195 is only 2cm wider, so guess might feel safer on 225s as is 3cm wider grip each wheel, just dont want car to feel much higher. Did you insure the wheels? PS any ideas how much insurance goes up fitting wheels ? mine is paid off so be nice to know before I call them and put myself in it, lol.

it can go the other way going wider, less ground pressure, less traction if it really wet or in snow. wasn't as good in the snow with 215's as with the 195's
insurance came down with wheels and suspension. added both at same time but didn't fit suspension for a couple weeks.
these wheels were less than new standard wheels. £200 less than the 16" and £500 les than 17" new prices that is.

225 can give less traction in wet? or isit more depending on tyres?

well them wheels are out question now so id rather go for 215's, should be good enough especially if I get decent tyres.

Insurance went down really? that sound good but unbelievable, thought theyd worry people whom do mods crash more often? lol

A 225 might not have any bigger contact patch than a 215. Don't assume it does because it's wider.

Tyre pressure's for one.

Also, some tyres aren't as wide as they say they are for some strange reason.

It's easier and much better getting wheels refurbished by your local body shop

not sure, don't want to mess up the car, make it prone to hitting curbs(front) and messing up new bumper. will look into it after wheels on, see how much it helps handling. I mean its only a 1.4 nothing like my redtop calibre. That's was slammed down on 17s, loved that car can never replace it. My dream car now would be a red |RS5.

You can get alloy gators to protect your wheels from curbing although I've never like the look of them personally

Yeah they're not to my taste but they seem helpful

Some alloys do have a different color rim as well though
