That's a shit load of water. There was that quote from an MP saying that he's never seen weather like it - and He live in Cumbria (used to bad weather). Kind of shows how bad it has been.

Going on the footage of the speed of the water I'm amazed no one has been killed.

Whole place is grid locked with traffic this morning. I don't know why people are trying to get into the centre. Flood defences did work to a point, but we are talking record breaking levels of rain fall in 24 hours

Reports of around 360mm of rainfall recorded. That's mental. More rain on the way as well.

View from the motorway looking towards Carlisle. That's usually just a river. Whole area has gone.

River that runs toward where I live has flooded.

People complaining the flood defences in Keswick were inadequate, if they'd not been there the water would have flooded the area 12 hours before!

seen a lot of army vehicles on their way here, loads of helicopters as well. They are saying it's going to be mid afternoon before the flood levels reach the peak. Sun station is still under threat and the police were just on the news saying they expect it to go and the whole city lose power.

Holy shit. Hard to get your head around all of this. The amount of homes and businesses ruined. Going to take some time to get this back to near normality.
