I grew up in Devon but my dad is from Edinburgh. We used to visit every year when I was younger, and we'd always go and stay with family friends up near Banchory too. I've got really fond memories of the place and the people, and frankly haven't been anywhere in England that's come close to it.
Visited the west coast for the first time properly this year and it only made me love Scotland even more. Not saying England's shit, I just prefer Scotland. If I could have my job but in Scotland I'd be happy.

Completely agree Ronson. That doesn't mean to say the weather is better though as on average, it's worse.

Whoever does the weather forecasts collects average temperatures, funnily enough, which will show, on average, the south east of England will always be warmer than Scotland.

seems the warmer it is, the worse it is for people. It's hotter in Syria and Africa than the north of England. So yeah, keep your temperatures and migrants from the tunnel. They are afraid of rain so we are safe.

Been a lovely day in Cumbria. Rally nice looking out my office window at an industrial estate in the sunshine.
Looking forward to getting my new house in a few months once it's built. You'd have to be a millionaire to buy it if you lived down south. Lol to that.

Looking on Right Move for houses like mine in London and they are over £300k lol.
Not entirely comparable when you take in to consideration cost of living etc but its a good gauge of how the country is messed up.

On average you're paid more down south but it does massively depend on the industry your in and where you are. You can certainly do just as well in IT (certain areas anyway) living in one of the cities up north as you can down here in the capital.
Still, after spending four years living in the north i'm not totally convinced - people appear to be a bit more chatty and yes, house prices are typically cheaper but the weather can be damn right depressing (use to hate driving up the M1 watching the outside temp gauge drop 5c or so) and the countryside down here can be just as impressive.
