I want a carbon fibre version made up of the bonnet "vent" you can see in these images

The stock plastic one is solid so more for show really, would like to fit something actually ventilated, as long as its not going to cost hundreds and hundreds

Happy to donate mine as a mould

I think there would be quite a demand for it too if the price is ok

Doesn't have to be CF then, even one made in similar plastic would be ok

I think most people would be willing to pay 150ish

I suppose I could cut a hole in mine, but I reckon it could be designed better

Could you not get a plastic one chop it and wrap it with carbon fibre wrap??

Or even try roughing it up and laying the weave on top of it if you want

Yeah chopping mine would be the cheapest.

Problem is the stock plastic one isn't very intricate, so even if you cut the piece out you wouldn't be left with a very big opening.

I reckon one made in CF could be more intricate and allow for a bigger opening

Carbon dipping looks wank, as does every other "carbon" wrap. Needs to be overlayed with a skin, some companies do that, I had it on my clio. Real carbon fibre layed over an ABS part.

If you want to 'wrap/skin' it; use the Skinning Starter Kit; depending on the complexity of a mould tool, you could use the Epoxy Mould Making Kit and the Laminating Starter kit to make your own. All the above are available from Easy Composites.

Make your own imo. Modroc bandages to make a mould. Then fibreglass sheets and resin. Just paint it or wrap it after the week of sanding and smoothing.

I've never had a mould made for a car. But when I used to play canoe polo we paddled carbon Kevlar boats and that wasn't cheap or easy.

Just to make something the once (as there isn't a demand already, even if there might be in the future) won't be cheap

If you're willing to do it yourself, it'll cost around £100.00.

Won't be a mould tool that you'll make hundreds of products from but you'll get a few out with no issues.
