The wheel issue is probably because Steves mum told them about his one being scuffed

Wheels? Can't they just order them in and fit them, then flog the others?

Bet they would if paying cash.

Cash is no good to dealers. You won't get the best deal if you pay cash.

All about the finance deals. They get much more commision that way.

It seems our options are to either go for one with the smaller wheels, or pass up on the car completely. The lease promotion apparently ends on Monday, and there are no "big wheel" cars in stock forecast for months.

I saw one at the dealer today, in black with the smaller wheels and it doesn't look THAT bad, but I hate to think we're compromising on the spec just to get one now. Additionally it drops the price of the lease by £20/month which isn't to be sniffed at.

Ring another dealers

90% of the dealers I spoke to were clueless.

If astons say its the case though I would tend to believe it

I'd have the smaller wheels. They look good IMO.

Is it only the wheels? Or are the suspension/brakes any different?

I'd be tempted to take it anyway and worry about that later. TBH it'll probably drive better on the smaller ones anyway.

It's just the wheels. Those wheels are baseline in the performance pack (which Steve got) but are an option for the poverty ones that we're looking at.

Been to another dealer today, they confirmed the "shortage" but they had one lying around that they could sell us via PCP (rather than lease) but it came in at £60 more p/month... lorra cash for some wheels.

We popped to Ford, just because it was across the street - cheapest they could do an ST2 Fiesta was £340p/month

Off back to look at the one with small wheels today, then it's decision time.

We've changed the order to include the small wheels, and also she's changed her mind and we've switched to blue

I'm annoyed to be honest, my head can't bring me to pay £60/month just for some wheels - but I'm still annoyed we can't get the spec we want.

After rushing around looking at potential alternatives, it's clear that this Corsa deal at the moment is head and shoulders above anything else on the market, so we'd be daft to walk away from it for the sake of the wheels.

£60/month for some wheels you did the right thing.

Smaller wheels probably be more comfortable on our roads anyway!

£60pm is a different arrangement though?

£60 less on a lease is basically the equity you're not putting in to it if you HP'd of GFV'd it.

Yeah it's kinda apple and oranges as it's a PCP which is £60 more expensive.

That said, we're going to keep the car for X months then we're going to hand it back and get something else, lease or PCP is of little significance in that instance - so I don't mind comparing the monthly payments and basing it on that.

After my visit to ford, even £250/month for the Corsa on PCP with the big wheels seemed an absolute bargain. Couldn't believe Ford are so far off the mark, even though the list price for an ST2 is pretty much the same as the Corsa VXR with the wheel options

Just goes to show I suppose, unless you're walking in with a wad of cash - the list price of a car is quite irrelevant.

For what its worth, opinion of the Fiesta was a nicer exterior but the interior of the Corsa feels and looks nicer. Didn't bother driving the Fiesta, the guy at the dealership was quite quick to shoot us down when we told him what figures we'd been discussing with Vauxhall.

He even built up the car with the usual "we've got 5 days to sell 15 cars so we're practically giving them away this weekend" and "that blue one outside has been there for 90 days and after 100 days we start paying interest so we're discounting it". A bit of coffee came out of my nose when he said it would be £340/month
