After wanting one for a long time I found one by pure chance. My mate bought it a few months ago and spent a fortune getting it up to scratch and has now lost interest so I had to have it. Got some nice plans for it but they'll be slow as its a project for me and I want to take my time with this one.

MK2 golf gti 16v big bumper 90 spec. This is the only decent pic I have just now.

Cheers lads. There's an unreal amount of parts and mods available for these I've noticed and it doesn't cost the earth either

Agreed with this if you keep it pretty much standard.

Nothing wrong with modding it though because it'll be a fun project.

Wicked love these. Mum had the old crappy 1.3 which she loved perfect specification you got there. When you say paint job, are you keeping it red? Got to I think although I do love oak green!

I'll be keeping all the standard parts so will have the option to go back to standard.

I was initially looking for an oak green one but there pretty hard to find. The red was a close 2nd and I got this for a price I couldn't say no to. It's low mileage at 185k as well still on the original engine and runs sweet as a nut

Please give me a pm when you loose interest eck, I want it!!

Never had a red one, or a 16v! Had a white and a black 8v almost bought another black 8v a few year back on eBay but it was a rust bucket.

I'll be honest and say I hate it just now lol. That's down to the fact the seats to high and my knees are against the steering wheel. I've just bought a momo race 300mm wheel to try and solve the problem.

I love the perfectly balanced steering and just enough power they offer. Great as a now and then car. I got rid of one that was mint because I was doing too many miles to work. There 25-30yr old now and do feel like a museum piece but I just love them!

Someone went mad with a rotary polisher and marked the majority of the paint. They even went through it on some edges and the undercoat is showing. Luckily the metal is still covered. It's also been painted before in its long history and the work is pretty poor, the wiper bung is badly covered, the bottom of the passenger wing is badly rusted and there's a dent in the drivers door. I already have a spare door and wing for it in the shed both in great condition. A full paint job will make it mint.
